Deposit took four months and a court threat
Landlord overall
Illinois law gives landlords 45 days to return a deposit or send an itemized statement. Mine took four months, three emails, and a certified letter mentioning the Chicago RLTO before a check appeared — minus a $150 'admin fee' that appears nowhere in my lease. The apartment itself was fine. The move-out experience was not.

Fine until winter
3150 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL
Eight months of the year this was a perfectly decent place. Then January hit, the building boiler started failing, and Briggs Urban Living's answering service became a black hole. Radiators were lukewarm for two stretches of about a week. They did eventually replace the boiler — after enough tenants called the city. Privacy was never an issue and the building itself is well kept.
